Cloud Master: Learn cloud formations with AI-images from a glider pilot’s point of view
Cloud Master is a web app that teaches cloud formations from a glider pilot’s point of view. It displays an image of a cloud formation as seen from inside a glider cockpit. The user selects the name of the cloud formation from multiple choice.

The web app generates images of cloud formations using Google’s Gemini AI. The prompt tries to create as realistic as possible imagery, but as because it’s AI errors are likely.

Instructor Hints
When the user/player gets an answer wrong, an instructor hint appears explaining how to identify the cloud formation. This helps to learn to key characteristics of each cloud formation.

The cloud types (hard coded) include:
- Cumulus Humilis (Fair Weather Cumulus)”,
- “Cumulus Mediocris”,
- “Cumulus Congestus (Towering Cumulus)”,
- “Cumulonimbus Calvus”,
- “Cumulonimbus Incus (Anvil)”,
- “Altocumulus Lenticularis (Lenticular)”,
- “Altocumulus Castellanus”,
- “Altocumulus Floccus”,
- “Altocumulus Stratiformis”,
- “Rotor Clouds”,
- “Cirrus Uncinus (Mares’ Tails)”,
- “Cirrus Fibratus”,
- “Cirrus Spissatus”,
- “Cirrostratus”,
- “Cirrocumulus”,
- “Stratus”,
- “Stratus Fractus (Scud)”,
- “Cumulus Fractus”,
- “Stratocumulus Stratiformis”,
- “Stratocumulus Lenticularis”,
- “Nimbostratus”,
- “Altostratus”,
- “Pileus (Cap Cloud)”,
- “Mammatus”,
- “Arcus (Shelf Cloud)”,
- “Virga”,
- “Kelvin-Helmholtz Waves”,
- “Cloud Streets (Cumulus Radiatus)”,
- “Sea Breeze Front Convergence”,

About
I created this web app as a helpful learning guide to identify cloud formations from the point of a view of a glider pilot. I am a beginner glider club and created this for fun. It is not intended to be scientifically accurate and you should assume it contains errors as it is AI generated.
The app was created with Google’s AI Studio.
